About the event
- Prepare to expand your horizons! Join us in this engaging workshop where we'll delve into the myriad possibilities that arise from the simple act of manipulating a single hank of rope.
- Instead of delving into complex patterns and techniques, we'll focus on immersing ourselves in the essence of rope creativity and attention to communication, all while emphasizing connection and intentionality.
- We'll uncover the fundamental Japanese history behind Ipponawa and Ichinawa, (hopefully) clarifying any confusion about their distinctions.
- Volunteers will have the opportunity to step into the role of demo-bottoms, providing hands-on demonstrations as the class progresses through each stage, building upon foundational skills and concepts.
- Whether tying solo or with a partner, this workshop promises a deep dive into mindful and enjoyable rope activities beyond the superficial.
Extras: ● Entry level, beginners class ● Materials needed: 1 rope, 7.5-10 meters long & safety scissors. ● There are no prior prerequisites– though knowing a single column is a great start! ● Extra rope is available for those in need. Please reach out to Billy before class.

Educator BIO: About Billy/Bimboxfluid:
- Meet Bimboxfluid, a gender-nonconforming individual who proudly uses they/them pronouns. Billy identifies as a rope switch-leaning-top, whose passion lies in crafting aesthetic and accessible queer rope. Their journey into Shibari and rope work began in December 2019, a pivotal moment when they transitioned from admiring Shibari from afar to actively engaging with their passion by purchasing their first kit. Since then, Billy has evolved remarkably, attending classes and jams worldwide and learning from a diverse group of individuals. Continuously driven by a thirst for knowledge and improvement, they remain dedicated to honing their skills and exploring new avenues within the art form at every opportunity
