Owl Academy - Toys R Us: Making an Impact
When is a toy more than just a toy? We’ve all spent a small fortune on impact toys, they get heavy to carry or they get left behind and never used. While a variety of toys is something many of us crave, there is an alternative approach.

About the event
When is a toy more than just a toy? We’ve all spent a small fortune on impact toys, they get heavy to carry or they get left behind and never used. While a variety of toys is something many of us crave, there is an alternative approach.
- This class will focus on that alternate approach. We will work with several toys and toy types; however, we are going to look at each individual toy as if is the only one, we have. Our focus will be to explore the many possibilities that a single implement could provide in a scene or even comprising the entire scene.
- The goal is to get away from the “pre-conceived” use of a specific type of toy, thus enhancing your skills and building your repertoire in creating memorable and enjoyable scenes.
- A toy is an extension of your body, your mind, your creativity, your emotions and most importantly a source of connection between you and your partner.
- We will take the “be the ball” concept from Caddy Shack to learn to become the toy, listen as that toy speaks to us, letting it teach us what it can offer during our play, contributing to the scene and scene flow.
A few of the specific areas of creative focus will be:
- What toy to use
- When to use that toy
- Where to use that toy
- How to use that toy
- Why to use that toy
This is an interactive class. The leaders will walk through options and concepts of a scene using discussion, scenarios, and brainstorming. The class will include live demos, with after-action discussions and perhaps even some homework for the participants. Other topics may include:
- Scene goals
- Scene approaches - structured vs free form
- Learning to free from a scene (within previous consent agreements).
- Scene levels – sensual to brutal
- Using environmental distractions to enhance your scene.
Do you have a favorite toy you would like to meld with? Bring it to the class, we might include it in during the day. While we can’t promise to work with every toy that is brought, we are sure you will be able to gain insight to apply to yours from what happens in the class.
INSTRUCTOR BIOS
Grr_Bear has been an active member of the kink community for over 10 years, involved with numerous munches, events, and conventions. As a retired Neuropsychologist and lifelong educator, the power of the mind has been a central focus of his vanilla world and has become a core component of his kink play.
Grr_Bear identifies as a Top, Dominant, and Sadist. He enjoys many aspects of kink including impact, fire play, sharps, blood play, hypnosis, electro, mind fucks, predicament play and his newly found love, barbed wire.
At heart Grr_Bear sees himself as a sensual sadist. Grr_Bear believes that sensual does not have to be tender. Every scene is sensual, so matter how intense or even brutal, it’s all about connection between him and his scene partner. He believes that the body is the gateway to the mind and the key to a connection within a scene.
MadEm, a sadistic vixen with a passion for kink and community, is a natural switch with a taste for edge play, laughter, and most anything taboo. For the past 10 years she has enjoyed organizing events, teaching, mentoring, and volunteering in Philadelphia and the surrounding area.
She’s the perfect balance of intimidating and approachable; with ego-petting charm and sarcastic mindfuckery that compliments her current fascinations of CBT, Wax, Urethral Sounding, Spanking, Confinement, Chastity, Impact, Sensation Play, Sissification, and ABDL Play.
